Meet Alex Swanson - Structural Engineer
President and owner of Swanson Structural, Inc., Alex Swanson, P.E. has over ten years of experience in structural engineering. He was born and raised in the beautiful city of St. Augustine, Florida and graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and an emphasis on Structural Engineering.
Alex began his career in Mobile, Alabama working on heavy industrial projects, then later moved to Sarasota, FL working more on mid to high rise condominium complexes along the Gulf Coast.
In 2020, Alex moved back to St. Augustine, FL and founded Swanson Structural, Inc, where he manages a small but passionate team of engineers and drafters. He focuses on residential and commercial buildings, using his diverse background and technical expertise to navigate the unique challenges of the historic structures and coastal structures in the Oldest City.
Alex is happy to reside in his hometown with his wife, Rachel, and their two children.
Meet Kyle Runk – Structural Engineer
Kyle Runk is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida with over eight years of experience in structural engineering. Born and raised in St. Augustine, Florida, he comes from a long family history in the area, including a family of builders who helped shape his early interest in construction and structural design.
He graduated from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, focused on Structural Engineering, and has a minor in Construction Management. Throughout his career, he has focused on the design and analysis of residential and commercial buildings, emphasizing practical, code-compliant solutions that are both efficient and constructible.
At Swanson Structural, Inc., he works closely with the firm’s engineering and drafting team to deliver coordinated, detail-driven structural plans tailored to each project. His background in construction, combined with his engineering experience, allows him to approach projects with a strong understanding of both design and field execution.
He recently built a new home in Elkton, where he resides with his wife, Lacey, and their three horses.
Meet Stephen Greenwood – Drafter
Stephen Greenwood has been a drafter at Swanson Structural, Inc. for two years. With six years of CAD experience and a certification in AutoCAD, Stephen plays a key role in supporting engineers, with a particular focus on drafting and developing residential new construction projects.
In addition to learning about the industry through his daily drafting role at the firm, Stephen is completing coursework toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with plans to continue his studies at the University of Florida and ultimately become a licensed Professional Engineer.
A lifelong resident of St. Augustine, Stephen is proud to contribute to projects that help grow and develop the beautiful community he calls home.
Meet Kyle Geib – Drafter
Kyle Geib was born and raised in St. Augustine Florida, and has been a member of the drafting team at Swanson Structural for one year. Certified in AutoCAD and holding five years of CAD experience, Kyle brings strong technical skill and attention to detail in residential renovation, addition, and remodeling projects.
Kyle is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with plans to his degree at the University of North Florida and work towards licensure as Professional Engineer.
Kyle looks forward to continuing his engineering career in his hometown of St. Augustine after contributing to the community where he was raised.
Meet Jess Jeffrey – Administrative Assistant
Jess Jeffrey has supported the Swanson Structural team as an administrative assistant for nearly two years, helping ensure the firm’s day-to-day operations run smoothly and efficiently. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science, with a minor in Nutritional Science, from the University of Florida.
In addition to her role at Swanson Structural, Jess is the founder of an organic chemistry tutoring business.
Originally from New Zealand, Jess has called St. Augustine home since 2013 and enjoys being a part of the growing local community.
